Visited RoyalSisters Blog and I must say that I am impressed with a lot of things that she made there.

Planning to make this one but without looking at the pattern.

My mom wanted me to make one for her too.

It looks simple when you look at it but gets complicated when you actually start working on it.

My son played with my crochet hook and I am unable to get the right size petal with my other size hooks. Just can't wait to finish this piece...

Beyond the Squares Crochet Motif Book

I ordered the book yesterday and received it today.

It is a great book for everyone.

I am going to start working on some of the motifs and post them here.

Wall Art

In little less than 2 hours today, I completed this Wall Art.

I wanted to make a handmade gift for a friend who bought a new home recently.

After thinking what to make for her, I made this piece today and I am going to gift

this to her tomorrow.

Let us see how she feels when she receives this gift.

Can be completed in little less than 3 hours.

Kantha Work Blouse

Check out the Kantha work embroidery I did on a blouse piece. Picture is not doing any justice to it, it is more brighter.

Kutchwork Saree

Atlast completed the embroidery on this saree. I did it non-stop in the beginning when my father was around but after he left, it was difficult to do with such fast pace with a baby in hand.

But, I am glad I completed it and sent it to my sister. Could not take better pictures because in the last minute, a friend said she can take some stuff to India and off I sent it through her. Later realised that I didn't take a picture of that one.


Picture is not even 10% closer to how it looks exactly. I will take a better picture when I go to India next time.

Bandhini Painting

I had started with some picture in mind but ended up with a different one altogether.

This really looks very childish like to me and immature with the kind of colors I chose.

It does't go with any kind of decor in the house.

Not so happy with this one.

Kutch Work: Kurta

Yesterday evening I went home and saw that my son was sleeping. And when he sleeps, I jump into making something that is either pending or start something new. I wanted to design something on the kurta fabric that I got recently, and I didn't have mood to draw it on graph sheet first and then trace it. So, I used my hand free style to draw the diamonds and there we go, could do it in less than 5 minutes. I then started the design and completed in less than 2 hours. This was simple to make and so no fuss. It would have taken less time may be but I had to remove one whole line after making the design in order to make it more thicker.

Wall Kutch Work

I have been working on the Kutch Work design on Aida fabric to hang on the wall. Started a week ago, let's see when I will get to finish that.

Update: May 26. One border has been completed on this one.

Kutchwork on Blouse

We had puja last Sat at home and I bought 2 blouse pieces from the Indian store. I am going to put one to a good use buy doing kutchwork on one for my mom. It is a simple piece, just trying my luck with it. I did half on the sleeve and I need to do the other half next...I hope my mom likes it.

I traced the design first on the 5mm graph sheet then put that sheet under the fabric and traced it. It was simple and easy, but if there are any other methods, I would love to try those.

I ordered a fabric from online store, it is dupioni silk in red color, and I plan to work the same design there too. Let's see how far I will go..

Here is the final picture. I completed the work in bits and pieces in 3 days. Not so neat but can be better next time.

The first one is done on sleeves and the second one for back.

Velvet Ganesha

I was looking for some kind of long painting for my 2-storey stair wall. I went around stores and dind't like anything. I had to make something on my own and that too before our house warming which was in 3 days. And I was in a different city working and will be leaving next day to my city. I got an idea! to make something with Velvet paper that mom brought in variety of colors. I knew for sure that it had to be something with Lord Ganesha.

I googled for some pretty designs and found one that I liked the most. Luckily, I found a printer in our office that makes large prints and that too in color. I took request from the concerned dept and printed out Ganesha on the day I was driving back home. I was so excited about making something beautiful with it. I sat all Friday with it and completed it and hung it. The photo is little old as it was made 2 years back, but I still love the way I made it. I had yet work to do that is to put pearls around the Ganesh but Ravi asked me to leave it as it is.

Kutchwork

This is one special kind of embroidery from India. And this is closely related to Armenian Embroidery.

The one thing I loved from childhood is Kutchwork. I have seen people working on it but nobody was ready to teach me at that time. They thought I was too young to learn that.
The time passed like anything and I landed in US and was yawning to learn it but no books were found that talked about it.

But, one fine day, I found a blog related to this and some lady designed it and explained it in such a simple way and I was pregnant then, went to the store, got the hoop and practised on a new T-shirt for almost 4 hours. That day I got up at 530 am and practised it. One thing I realised about this is, if you don't practise well, you will definitely lose the touch.

When my mom came for helping me out with delivery and the baby. I showed her the designs I made. She was very impressed and it seems she always wanted a saree with the kutch work design. But, she could never learn it due to the work and all. I have decided to make a saree for my mom, this is going to be surprise though. So, let's see. I already have two things on my mind to surprise her.

Crochet Baby Blanket

I made this for my son to take it with me to India.

It got ready on time but it was little bulky.

Crochet Cap

I made this for my kid to go with the shawl that I made. Shawl coming up next...I dont' have the pattern for this, I just made this using his headsize. Made this in little less than 2 hours.

But, he wore it may be little more than 5 times and now it does't fit him any longer.

Crochet Butterfly Throw

I made this using the butterfly pattern show below. I kept expanding the design until it reached my desired size. I remember taking it work and crocheting it in break time in order to finish it on my time for my mom. She kept that safely back in India.

One day me and mom were sitting in the backyard and on the swing. She then asked me about my hobbies and how far I have, I showed her all the yarn lying in the boxes in the garage and she saw this beautiful butterfuly pattern that I was making as a door hanger for a colleague. She liked it to much, she requested me to make one for her. I went and bought yarn from ACMoore and made this in less than 15 days. She simply loved it.
